And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the door is being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “peace to you.”

If you could put yourself in the atmosphere of the moment with the disciples. The air must have been filled with great anxiety and questions. It is into this atmosphere that Jesus stood in the midst of them and said “peace to you.”

I am sure that we all have been sensing the anxiety of the moment. Not only is it locally, but the atmosphere of the whole world is tense and filled with anxiety.  We all can feel the uneasiness around us. It reminds me of the story where Jesus was asleep in the back of the boat in the midst of a great storm. If you remember He stood up and rebuked the storm and said to it,

“peace be still.”

The comment from the apostles to one another was in a form of a question:

Who is this that can even command the wind and the waves to be calm?”

We are the people of God. I believe a great way to pray for the world at this time is to speak peace to the storms.

May God give us all grace to be carriers of this peace to a very anxious world. May Jesus stand in the midst of us as  we agree with Him in our spirits and words, peace to you.

Peace, I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be trouble, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27-28
