1 Cor 11:29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. NKJV

What a wonderful and mysterious privilege to be part of the Body of Christ. It carries with it both great benefits as well as great responsibilities. But who and what is the Body of Christ? When Paul was struck down on the road to Damascus, Jesus called out to him “Saul why do you persecute me?” Paul was on his way to arrest Christians and put them in prison yet Jesus said it was Him he was persecuting. There’s know doubt this is one of the great factors that gave Paul such insight to his description of the Body of Christ with its many members in 1 Cor. 12. The above verse [1Cor. 11:29-30 ] is yet another insight that Paul shares with us about the Body of Christ. That if we eat and drink, referring to communion or the Body of Christ, in an unworthy manor we bring judgment on ourselves, it can even cause sickness and death. He said that it was a result of not “discerning” or recognizing what or who the Body of Christ is. In the health culture we live in we have been educated concerning taking care of our own body. Terms like destructive behavior are used for people that will not recognize the damage they do to their own bodies by not caring for their bodies. In the light of this great mysterious privilege and responsibility of being part of the Body of Christ, members of him and one another, let us care for this Body. Washing it by the water of the Word. We should nourish and cherish the Body of Christ.  [Eph 5:26-30] As a member of His wonderful Body I send blessing to you IN Jesus name.
