A Language Like No Other

MaeLeah and I have three children (soon to be four).  Each of our children has developed language at different ages as many of you have probably experienced with your own children.  As our children grow and develop their language, we are constantly helping them to shape the way in which they will communicate with the world.  Teaching them that all plural words don’t have ‘s’ on the end and sometimes it’s not nice to tell people exactly what animal you feel they best resemble.  We teach them to use  words of love to encourage each other and others.  We teach them that some words hurt, and some words help.  Some words can make people laugh and some can make them cry.  Mastering language is something that needs to be practiced, understood and perfected if we are to be good communicators.

This past Sunday we talked about the Language of Heaven (sermon link).  In this, we realize that the language of Heaven is not always one that we understand, listen to or communicate with.  Of the utmost importance for a believer, is that we would be able to communicate directly with Heaven in the midst of our circumstances by way of the Holy Spirit.  Too often we default to our soulish and “old-man” natures.  This leads us to look at our circumstances with a defeatist attitude.  It is only when we look to Heaven’s response that we are able to find hope for our journey.  In Heaven, there is no conflict, no argument and no negativity.  What there is, is far greater for us.  There is hope, peace, promise and provision.
