Introduction:
Genesis 8:22 As long as the earth remains, there will be springtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night.”
Isaiah 1:18 (LB) 18 Come, let’s talk this over, says the Lord; no matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can take it out and make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you white as wool!
Read:
The Mercury hovered at minus 11 degrees on an early March morning. The pre-dawn sky was clear with bluish undertones. The air was invigorating, the silence was overpowering. There, framed between the two pine trees twinkled the morning star to greet me. Yes, the heavens still declare the glory of God. Despite the cold, I was reminded that the month of March encompasses the first day of spring, which has now come and gone.
One week after this, came a March blizzard. Snow plows once again were on the alert. Swirling gusts of wind quickly drifted the snow by our outside door. Black capped chickadees forced into the wind and continued their cheerful chatter. There was an air of excitement about the storm. As I shoveled snow I thought about the promises of God’s words.
For believers, Christ is with His people even in the storms of life. A heart thankful for His presence is a powerful blizzard beater. He is there in every season to cheer His people on their journey. Giving thanks releases His power in our lives. If you have the late winter blues, check your calendar, take a fresh air walk, and rely on God’s words. He is faithful and will bring it to pass. In the meantime, “Be of Good Cheer!”
Consider:
- What is your favorite season?
- Can you be sure spring will come?
- What can a late season blizzard remind us of?
